The Oxford High School Physical Education Facility was designed in two stories to provide optimal space on an increasingly crowded campus.  In addition, the bridge/ramp from the second floor descends directly onto the track and football field, connecting them dramatically and conveniently to the locker facilities in the PE building.

The building sits across a small parking lot from the gymnasium wing of the main school building and immediately adjacent to the baseball field.  The building is organized around a central weight room near the entry on the lower floor.  A portion of the weight room has a skylight atrium which connects the upper and lower floors and provides heightened supervision of the space.  Around the atrium are offices for coaches/teachers, equipment storage, laundry, training facilities and locker classroom/training room on the lower floor provides space for classes and team meetings.

An existing one-story vending, ticket and public restroom facility immediately adjacent to the new two-story facility was retained.  The building comprises 17,460 square feet, plus 2,664 square feet of covered porch area.  The building is constructed of concrete masonry facing units in a color to match the predominant brick color of the existing high school.  Construction was completed in the spring of 2007.  It was placed in service during the summer of 2007.
