The academic honorary fraternity for students at two year colleges, Phi Theta Kappa has an active and alumni membership in excess of one million people. The building's exterior is a Jeffersonian-inspired classical composition, anchored by a spherical dome. The interior is organized around the central atrium below the dome. The building’s interior, somewhat more contemporary in design, echoes both the organization's proud history and its focus on the future.

The building exterior is of wood mold brick. It has a copper roof, and wood doors, windows, and trim. The building won an Award of Merit for Excellence from the Mississippi Associated Builders and Contractors in 1998.
