In 1998, the City of Oxford undertook an enormous community planning process. One of the most consistent findings was the need for a community arts facility, a need that has found a home in an obsolescent Depression-era electric department building.
Occupying an important site two blocks from the Courthouse Square, this facility has a wonderful interior volume, ideal for adaptive use for the performing arts.
The first phase of this two-million-dollar project has been funded with a $300,000 grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission and a $200,000 match from the City of Oxford. Phase I completed in 2003, and fundraising for future phases is proceeding.
