Water Treatment Plant
Oxford, Mississippi
Completed: 1997
Area: 1,980 Square Feet
As a part of a larger municipal water project, the prime civil engineer engaged Howorth & Associates Architects to design this modest service building. Its chemical rooms are used to store and to control the delivery of lime, fluoride, and chlorine into the city’s water system via the attached 1,400 square foot stilling well, which was also a part of this building project.  The building also contains a testing laboratory, washroom, electrical closet, storage room and loading docks.

The building site is near a residential area and is prominent along the bend of a suburban street which gets periodically high traffic on account of the adjacent city park sports fields.

The building won an Honor Award from the Mississippi Chapter of the American Insti-tute of Architects in 1998.
